PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the versatility of a structure for improving the rotation performance of a polygon mirror and to stably keep the rotation performance for a long period of time. SOLUTION: In an optical scanner in which an optical deflector 70 is arranged in the vicinity of inner wall faces 103, 105 and 107 of a housing 34, a flow straightening plate 110 is provided between the outer peripheral face of the polygon mirror 54 and the inner wall faces 103 and 107. Airflow generated by the rotation of the polygon mirror 54 along the outer periphery of the polygon mirror 54 is straightened by the flow straightening plate 110 and the uneven rotation of the polygon mirror 54 due to the turbulence of the air flow is suppressed. Further, the flow straightening plate 110, which is independent of the housing 34, easily copes with the variation in the optical deflectors and optical systems, thus the versatility is enhanced.
