PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for treating ammonia-containing waste water, in which harmful gas is prevented from being generated even when ammonia of high concentration is decomposed and which is suitable even when ammonia is decomposed partially.SOLUTION: A method for treating ammonia-containing waste water comprises a step of adding a liquid chemical containing hypobromous acid and/or hypochlorous acid to the ammonia-containing waste water to decompose ammonia oxidatively. An aqueous solution of bromide is mixed with another aqueous solution of hypochlorite to obtain a liquid containing the produced hypobromous acid and/or hypochlorous acid and the obtained liquid is added to the ammonia-containing waste water. An aqueous solution of sodium bromide is mixed with a separate aqueous solution of sodium hypochlorite in an equal molar ratio or so that the sodium hypochlorite becomes excessive and an obtained liquid is added to the ammonia-containing waste water.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
