The circuit breaker moving contacts share a common drive system (5). The latter comprises two individual drives (6, 7), one (6) kinematically coupled to one contact (3) to provide a rapid action drive. The second drive unit (7) is connected to the other moving contact to provide the operational drive. Between the two moving contacts is mounted a stationary contact in such manner that a light arc is stricken between it and the moving contact (4), cooperating with the operational drive unit. The same happens when the rapid action contact is operated, both light arcs protecting the other prespective contacts.
