PURPOSE:To reproduce an auxiliary data with a simple construction by providing an auxiliary data recording zone along a rotating direction of a reel on an external circumference surface of a flange, and recording an auxiliary data such as contents, a time information and the like relating to a recording content of a tape shape recording member. CONSTITUTION:On an auxiliary data recording zone 9, an auxiliary data such as contents and a time information and the like is recorded in advance by an optical bar code. When a tape cassette constructed in such a manner is charged in a charging section A, a reel 4 is engaged with a reel driving shaft 10, a photo-interrupter 11 as an auxiliary data detector of a part of an auxiliary data detector takes a position opposing to the auxiliary data recording zone 9 through a transparent plate 3 of a window 1. Under this condition, the reel 4 is suitably rotated through the reel driving shaft 10 and the auxiliary detector 11 is included. By the auxiliary data detector, the optical bar code of the auxiliary data recording zone 9 is read as an optical information and converted into an electric signal.
