PURPOSE:To polish electrolytically and efficiently the inside surface of a long- sized metallic pipe by supporting an electrode in the metallic pipe apart at the prescribed space maintained from the inside surface of the pipe and supplying an electrolyte into the pipe while rotating the metallic pipe and moving the same in the longitudinal direction. CONSTITUTION:Both ends of the metallic pipe 1 are closed by closing bodies 4, 5. The electrolyte L is dispersed and supplied into the pipe 1 through a rotary joint 7 provided to one closing body 4 and is thereafter discharged through a discharge port 10 of the closing body 5 at the other end. The electrode 15 is so supported as to maintain the specified space from the inside surface of the pipe 1 by a support 17 consisting of an insulator and is made movable in the longitudinal direction. One negative side of an electric power source 20 is connected to the electrode 15 and the positive side to the pipe 11. The pipe 1 is suppored on a roller 3 and is rotated relative to the electrode 15 and is moved in the longitudinal direction thereof as well. The accuracy of the electrolytic polishing is improved by the above-mentioned method.
