<p>Stranded cables are coated with polymer by a device attached to an extruder and consisting of a head, feed and guide for the polymer, guide for the cable in the head and nozzle; the polymer first flows as two annular section coverings round the cable guide before and in the cable outlet, the outer covering passes to the outlet nozzle, the inner passes to an intermediate nozzle to produce a round core consisting of polymer-covered strands, while the outlet nozzle produces the outermost coating of that core. Produces absolutely smooth coatings in which the inner stranded structure is no longer visible.</p> |
