PURPOSE:To apply the inverse gamma<-> correction at the A/D conversion by setting a comparison reference voltage in response to a gamma<-> correction curve. CONSTITUTION:In an A/D converter 50 applying A/D conversion to a signal from a device such as a video camera, since an electric input level Vg of a cathode ray tube and a fluorescent luminescence brightness level B are not linear to each other, resistors R1-Rn setting each reference voltage of the A/D converter 50 are made related to the relation of the electric input level Vg of the cathode ray tube and the fluorescent luminescence brightness level B. As a result, an analog input voltage Vin of the A/D converter 50 and a digital output Dout have a complementary conversion characteristic C with respect to the relation between the electric level B of the cathode ray tube and the fluorescent luminescence brightness B.
