In addition, each of the DICOM image files is associated with a DICOM series representing the digital image at the first resolution. |

1. A system for storing a digital image using the Digital Imaging and Communication in Medicine (DICOM) standard, the system comprising:
at least one processor; and one or more software modules configured to, when executed by the at least one processor,
operate an image capture device and acquire digital slide image data representative of a physical slide specimen,divide the digital slide image data at a first resolution into a first plurality of regions and create a plurality of first DICOM images from each of said first plurality of regions,divide the digital slide image data at a second resolution into a second plurality of regions and create a plurality of second DICOM images from each of said second plurality of regions, andassociate the plurality of first DICOM images and the plurality of second DICOM images with a DICOM study representing the digital image at a plurality of resolutions and store the DICOM study in a non-transitory computer readable medium. |
