A temperature sensor installed in the cold water storage tank of a domestic water system. If the water in the hot water tank expands, causing an excessive amount of hot water to rise through the expansion pipe from the hot water cylinder into the cold water cylinder, this is detected by the temperature sensor. The temperature sensor then triggers an alarm which may have an audible or visual indicator. This allows the condition to be detected before damage is done to the cold water tank. The sensor may be made of copper. It may be permanently attached to the alarm via a hole in the ceiling if the cold water tank is in the loft space. The alarm may have a low battery indicator. |
