The present invention not only actively takes fluid into the sliding surface, discharges same from the sliding surface, and prevents concentration of substances that cause sediment on the sliding surface but also prevents leakage of the fluid that has been taken into the sliding surface to the low pressure fluid side while preventing the generation of sediment. The sliding part is characterized in that: one sliding surface of a pair of sliding parts that slide relative to each other is provided with fluid-circulating grooves (10) configured from an inlet (10a) entering from the high pressure fluid side, an outlet (10b) opening out to the high pressure fluid side, and a connecting section (10c) for connecting the inlet (10a) to the outlet (10b); the fluid-circulating grooves (10) are isolated from the low pressure fluid side by land sections (R); and in order to reduce the pressure of the fluid flowing in the fluid-circulating grooves (10) in the connecting sections (10c), the cross-sectional area of the groove at least at the inlet (10a) or the outlet (10b) is set to be different from the cross-sectional area of the groove in the connecting section (10c). |
