<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a bulk volume or weight of a finished dried material discharged after separating and drying a drying object having a high rate of liquid content. <P>SOLUTION: A space-saving drying device includes: a casing 20 below a centrifugal separation mechanism 10; a vertical communication passage 40 directly coupling a sludge discharge part 109 constituting the centrifugal separation mechanism 10 and a sludge feeding part 301 constituting a drum drying mechanism 30; and a vapor intake mechanism 50 joined to a side face of the vertical communication passage 40.
