<p>A closure assembly usable on containers for carbonated beverages. The closure assembly comprises a main part 14 which closes a container and includes a port 16, a closure member which includes a first part 32 located on the external side of the main part, and a second part 34 located on the internal side of the main part. The assembly in an initial condition sealingly closes the port; the closure member in the initial condition is in a first orientation, and rotatingly moved to a second orientation where the closure member can be removed from the main part. The assembly is configured so that when the closure member is rotated from the second orientation to the first (re-sealing the container) engagement of the second part 34 against cam surfaces (22, figure 5) on the internal surface of the main part urges the first part 32 against the external side of the main part forming a seal therebetween; There is also sealing formation (50, figure 18) provided on the internal side of the first part which engages with a sealing formation 20 on the external side of the main part.
