A battery module is provided with: secondary battery cells (BT) each comprising a container body (1a), the container body (1a) including a bottom surface, a pair of main surfaces which extends in the direction substantially perpendicular to the bottom surface from a pair of long sides of the bottom surface, and a pair of side surfaces extending between the main surfaces, the secondary battery cells (BT) each also comprising a lid body (1b) which faces the bottom surface and which is provided with electrode terminals (PT, MT); cases (10, 20) for housing the secondary battery cells (BT); electrically conductive members (BB) for electrically connecting the electrode terminals (PT, MT) of the battery cells (BT); and a circuit board (30) provided above the cases (10, 20) so as to be located on the electrically conductive members (BB). The battery module is characterized in that the secondary battery cells (BT) comprise a first cell group including secondary battery cells stacked in a first direction (D1), and also comprise a second cell group including secondary battery cells (BT) stacked in a second direction (D2) intersecting the first direction (D1), in that the secondary battery cells (BT) are arranged such that the side surfaces of the secondary battery cells (BT) of the first cell group and the main surfaces of the secondary battery cells (BT) of the second cell group face each other, and in that the secondary battery cells (BT) are connected in series. |
