<p>The equipment secures the leading edge of a tape to a rotary winding device, being partic. for magnetic tape in data processing equipment and threading it automatically into place. On the coiling surface (2) of the winding device (1) are two or more electrodes (3, 4) insulated from each other. Between them a DC voltage (5) of several thousand volts is applied, so as to attract and secure the tape leading edge (6). The electrodes can be comb-shaped conductors with their teeth (7, 8) fitting between each other, and the voltage can be applied via a high resistance (9). The design avoids the risk of mechanical damage to the tape, or of inadvertent erasure of the data.</p> |
