Disclosed is a method for operating an image display device. A reception part receives non-compressed audio-visual contents. A display part displays the non-compressed audio-visual contents. A value-added service management part receives first contents information containing a trigger based on first characteristic information extracted from the non-compressed audio-visual contents, executes an application concerning the non-compressed audio-visual contents based on the trigger, receives second contents information for the non-compressed contents based on second characteristic information extracted from the non-compressed audio-visual contents, and terminates the application if the contents information meets the condition of terminating the application.
