PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent more surely catching of ropes, while suppressing increase of the number of components.SOLUTION: A catch preventing device 31 has a guard wire 32 tightened in a hoistway 1 along the vertical direction, and a plurality of displacement regulation metal fittings 33 fixed to a rail bracket 21. The displacement regulation metal fitting 33 has a planar spacer part 33a interposed between the rail bracket 21 and a car guide rail 4a, and a displacement regulation part 33b formed by bending one end (end on the near side to a main rope 16) of a spacer part 33a so as to enclose the periphery of the guard wire 32.
