A detecting apparatus automatically detects blood vessels in a short time, obtains the center line (P1-Pm) of a body, corrects the center line (P1-Pm) of the body so as to traverse the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), and specifies the location of the AP direction of the CSF, based on a signal value on the center line (Pi') of the body after the correction.
