Disclosed is a method for producing vinyl acetate, which is by adding inert gas into recycling gas to increase the explosion limits of oxygen, enlarge the stable region of reaction system, increase the concentration of oxygen in the reaction system, and thereby to reduce the reaction temperature, prolong the service life of catalyst, and improve the selectivity of vinyl acetate. The inert gas is nitrogen or a mixture of nitrogen and methane. The concentration of the inert gas at the inlet of the reactor is 8-30mol%. The molar concentration of oxygen at the inlet of the reactor is 10.5-12mol%.
