<p>1,178,891. Coated fabrics. J. R. GEIGY A. G. 16 Oct., 1967 [17 Oct., 1966 (<SP>2</SP>)], No. 47081/67. Heading B2E. [Also in Divisions C2 and C3] Fabrics are rendered oil-and water repellent by coating with a homopolymer or co-polymer of a compound of the general formula: wherein R is C n X 2n+1 , monocarbocyclic aryl or alkylmonocarbocyclic aryl, n is integer of 1-18; X=H or F, R 1 is H or methyl, and addition salts thereof. Cotton and wool fabrics are treated with a 2% solution of the various polymers in, for example, hexafluoroxyleneethyl acetate. The polymers used include poly (O-methacrylyl perfluorooctanoamidoxime) a copolymer of O-methacrylyl perfluorootanoamidoxime and N-octylmethacrylate, poly-(O- methacrylyl acetamidoxime), poly-(O-methacrylyl propioamidoxime hydrochloride) and copolymers of O-methacrylyl perfluorooctanoamidoxime with ethylene and vinyl chloride.</p> |
