<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable selection of a suitable ranging point. <P>SOLUTION: An imaging device 100 includes: an imaging element 10 that converts light from a subject by photo-electric conversion into an electric signal; a phase difference detecting unit 20 that receives the light from the subject received by the imaging element 10 at the same time with the imaging element 10 so as to perform phase difference detection and has a plurality of ranging points; a characteristic point extracting unit 50 that extracts a position or range of a characteristic point of the subject on the basis of output from the imaging element 10; and a control unit 50 that selects at least one of the ranging points from the plurality of ranging points on the basis of the position or range of the characteristic point and controls autofocus by using a signal from the selected ranging point. The control unit 50 selects the ranging point receiving the light from the subject of a range at a lower side in a vertical direction of the subject with respect to the subject corresponding to the position or range of the characteristic point and overlapping with a horizontal direction of the subject. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
