<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display control unit. <P>SOLUTION: A display control unit (39) is configured to generate a control signal of an LCD panel to be illuminated by backlight containing a spatially modulated approximated image of a desired image. The control signal contains luminance corresponding to pixel values of the LCD panel and colors.
