TISSUE STOP FOR SURGICAL INSTRUMENT A surgical instrument (100) for surgically joining a tissue is disclosed. The surgical instrument (100) comprises a handle assembly (110), an elongated portion (120) extending distally from the handle assembly (110), a pair of opposed haw members (120, 140), and a tissue stop (170). The tissue stop (170) is mechanically engaged with a first jaw member (130) and is configured to retain the tissue "T" between jaw members (130, 140). The tissue stop (170) is movable between a first position, where a stopping portion (122) of the tissue stop (170) is disposed between a 1o tissue-contacting surface (174) of the first member (130) and a tissue-contacting surface (135) of the second jaw member (140), and a second position, where the stopping portion (182) is between the tissue-contacting surface (174) of the first jaw member (130) and a lower surface of the first jaw member (130). A portion of the tissue stop (170) is made of stamped metal section and a portion of the tissue stop %5 (170) is made of an overmolded plastic section. |
