<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-beam semiconductor laser device in which the rotation of a polarization angle is suppressed at the time of mounting and which has stable polarization characteristics. <P>SOLUTION: A surface electrode (an anode electrode) 10 of a laser chip 11 is shared by two ridge portions 8a and 8b. On the other hand, back electrodes (cathode electrodes) 14 (14a and 14b) are formed in two regions (substrates 2a and 2b) separated each other by a separation groove 12 penetrating a substrate 2. For this reason, the structure in which the rotation of a polarization angle does not occur can be provided even if the displacement of the laser chip 11 and a sub-mount 20 occurs, when the laser chip 11 is mounted on the sub-mount 20 with its junction facing downward and the surface electrode 10 facing the sub-mount 20. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
