PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a planar heater achieved in optimal temperature control regardless of sitting directly or on a chair and without making a user aware of it. SOLUTION: The planar heater includes: a pyroelectric sensor 2 used as a human body detecting sensor that outputs a signal depending on a direct sitting form in which the user directly sits on a planar heater body 1 or a chair sitting form in which the user uses it while sitting on a chair; and a planar heater using form switching means 101 which switches a temperature range of a temperature setting means 10 from a low temperature to a high temperature, to a low side in the direct sitting form, and to a high side in the chair sitting form according to the human body detection signal from the pyroelectric sensor 2.
