PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and suitably prevent developer stored in a developing housing from leaking out through a gap between a developing roller and a development housing due to impact or the like applied during the transport of a developing device. SOLUTION: The developing device includes the developing roller 11 which is disposed in an opening in the development housing 10 storing developer t and is rotated to guide developer outside. In the developing device, a cover member 20 is detachably attached to the development housing so as to cover the opening from which the developing roller is exposed. In addition, a sealing member 21 provided on the cover member is linearly inserted in at least one of the gaps extending in the axial direction of the developing roller between the developing roller and development housing, and thereby seals the gap.
