<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a permanent magnet type rotary electric machine which increases rotor position dependence of impedance and is suitable for sensorless driving, and to provide an electric power steering device using the same. <P>SOLUTION: A rotatable rotor 4 is inserted into a stator 1. The rotor 4 is provided with a rotation axis 5, a cylindrical rotor core 6 fixed to the rotation axis 5, a plurality of permanent magnets 7 fixed to an outer peripheral face of the rotor core 6 at equal intervals in a circumferential direction, and a plurality of conduction circuit parts 8 fixed to the outer peripheral face of the rotor core 6 to surround a periphery of the permanent magnets 7.
