<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To acquire a radiation detector which has a high detection sensitivity, with respect to radiation whose permeabilities to substances are high, and can acquire a two-dimensional image with respect to an incident radiation. <P>SOLUTION: This radiation detector 10 includes a radiation-to-light transducing element 20 and an imaging element 30. The radiation-to-light transducing element 20 is constituted by bundling a number of cylindrical fluorescent elements 21. The individual fluorescent elements 21 are arranged, in correspondence with individual pixels 31 in the imaging device 30. In these fluorescent elements 21, cylindrical fluorescent objects 22, made of scintillator materials are set so that the axes (long axes) of the cylinders, are parallel with the direction of incidence of radiation to be detected. On the top surfaces 221 of the fluorescent objects 22 and their side surfaces 222, metal layers 23 are formed.
