TIME-OF-FLIGHT MASS SPECTROMETER

A time-of-flight mass spectrometer includes a function of introducing a gas from a valve (8) to a circumvolant chamber (4) and makes two analyses for the same sample. A flight-of-time spectrum is acquired without the gas introduced for the first analysis, and with He introduced for the second analysis. Although diverse ions with the same m/z value are detected as one peak in the first analysis, differences are observed in the detected peak position and shape as a difference occurs in the time of flight of the ions different in size due to the collision against He in the second analysis. A spectrum comparison part (14) analyzes changes in the peak position and shape of the time-of-flight spectra for the first and second analyses and outputs results from an output part (15). Thus, information related to the difference in ion size such as a molecular structure, valence and molecular class can be obtained.
