The present invention relates to a support member, such as a top mattress, for improving the recumbent position on a mattress for sleep and/or rest, comprising: - a support body for providing a bodily support, comprising a three-dimensional crochet or knitted structure comprising an upper air-permeable layer, a lower air- permeable layer and a connecting layer which is built up of a plurality of connecting filaments extending between the upper and lower layers, and - an envelope encasing the support body, the envelope comprising: - a first side for providing a covering for the first side of the support body, - a second side for providing a covering for the second side of the support body, and - a closing member such as a zip or velcro, and wherein: - at least one side of the envelope comprises a three- dimensional layer for imparting a respective air- permeability to this side of the envelope. |
