PURPOSE: A gateway electronic control unit for a gateway of a vehicle and a driving information recording method thereof are provided to supply the responsibility determination after a traffic accident by storing vehicle state information before and after accident. CONSTITUTION: Vehicle condition information is transmitted from electronic control units installed inside vehicle interior, and stores in a first memory(S101). The distance between vehicles measured by an intelligent cruise control system is transmitted(S103). The relative velocity and reinforcing acceleration are calculated based on the received vehicle condition information(S105). A collision index is calculated by using the distance between vehicles(S107). It is decided whether the calculated collision index exceeds a reference value(S109). The vehicle condition information is stored based on an event occurrence point of time when being determined in the first memory(S111).
