PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce fixed pattern noise caused by variations in amplification factors. SOLUTION: An imaging apparatus includes: a plurality of column amplification sections, each including an array of pixels arranged in a direction of rows and a direction of columns and a setting section for setting amplification factors, for amplifying, with the set amplification factor, a difference between first signals and second signals outputted from pixels of each column to column signal lines in different timing or, otherwise, for amplifying the first signals and the second signals, respectively; and a plurality of reference signal supply sections for outputting a first reference signal and a second reference signal in different timing to the column signal lines, respectively. The first reference signal and the second reference signal are common for a plurality of columns in the pixel array, each of the plurality of column amplification sections amplifies and outputs a difference between the first reference signal and the second reference signal or amplifies and outputs the first reference signal and the second reference signal, respectively, and the setting section sets the amplification factor in such a way as to reduce variations, in amplification factors, at the plurality of column amplification sections in accordance with a signal outputted from each of the plurality of column amplification sections.
