<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary solenoid which continues large rotating torque to a plate magnet when carrying electricity, and is reduced in the degradation and unevenness of torque within a prescribed operation angle range. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A plurality of coil bodies 3 are arranged along a base circle 4, and circular segment cores 9 are formed at the respective coil bodies 3 so as to face the plate magnet 8 via micro air gaps G. Magnetic flux oriented to the circumference direction of the plate magnet 8 is generated between the segment cores 9 and the plate magnet 8, and thus the strong rotating torque is continued by applying a rotational direction component to the plate magnet 8. By this arrangement, high torque to the plate magnet 8 can be achieveed, the large rotating torque can be obtained within the prescribed operation angle range, and an excellent rotating torque characteristic reduced in the degradation and unevenness of the torque can be obtained.
