PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing an ashless coal capable of manufacturing an ashless coal with a high softening temperature and capable of improving a carbon yield and an ashless coal with a low softening temperature and superior in a heat flowability at the same time. SOLUTION: The manufacturing method includes a first slurry heating process (S1) for heat-treating a slurry which is produced by mixing coal with an aromatic solvent, a first separating process (S2) for separating the heat treated slurry to a liquid component and a solid component, a second slurry heating process (S3) for heat treating the slurry made by adding and mixing an aromatic solvent with the solid component at a temperature higher than the heat treatment at the first slurry heating process (S1), a second separating process (S4) for separating the heat treated slurry to a liquid component, and a solid component, and a process for gaining a modified coal (S5) for removing the aromatic solvent from the liquid component to gain an ashless coal, wherein the aromatic solvent is further separated from the liquid component separated in the first separating process to gain an ashless coal.
