PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a safety device for the battery, which can perform interruption of current and discharge of generated gas at the time of abnormalities occurrence of the battery before being at a dangerous state, which is less likely to cause current flowing again after discharging the generated gas, and which can easily be manufactured. SOLUTION: In the safety device S for a battery provided with a projection 23 forming a flange surface 21 on an outer periphery and having a projected dish-shaped inside the flange surface 21 in the power source element direction and projecting to the center of a dish-shaped bottom face 22 in the power source element direction, a safety valve 20 wherein a groove section and a linear groove section opened toward the periphery at designated pressure are arranged, and a dish-shaped insulator 30 having a center hole in the center and a conductive plate 40. The safety valve 20 is fitted into the insulator 30, the projection 23 passes through the center hole 31 of the insulator 30 and is welded with the conductive plate 40, and the groove section of the safety valve has a non-continuous section.
