PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a print image formation method which can suppress wrinkles of a ribbon, and to provide a printer. SOLUTION: In the print image formation method, a thermal head unit 4 presses ink ribbons 2a-2h to an intermediate transfer film 5, the ink ribbons 2a-2h also move transfer positions as the intermediate transfer film 5 is subjected to film conveyance so as to change a transfer position, and the ink of the ink ribbons 2a-2h is thermally transferred by the thermal head unit 4 to the intermediate transfer film 5. The ink ribbons 2a-2h passed through the thermal transfer are adapted to be taken up.
