<p>Disclosed is a crosslinked hyaluronic acid powder which is excellent in swellability in water. Also disclosed is a method for simply producing such a crosslinked hyaluronic acid powder. Specifically disclosed is a method for producing a swellable crosslinked hyaluronic acid powder, which is characterized in that a hyaluronic acid powder dispersed in a liquid medium containing a monovalent alcohol having 1-4 carbon atoms and having a solubility of the hyaluronic acid powder of less than 0.1 g/L is mixed with a crosslinking agent, thereby being subjected to a crosslinking reaction. A swellable crosslinked hyaluronic acid powder obtained by this method has a swelling ratio in water of not less than 500%.</p> |
