PURPOSE:To provide a thermal transfer recording medium and a thermal transfer recording method capable of producing excellent gradations of color densities in intermediate gradations, by incorporating a plurality of kinds of coloring agents having the same hue but differing in transfer starting temperature. CONSTITUTION:The thermal transfer recording medium 1 comprises a coloring agent containing layer 3 comprising a plurality of coloring agents on a heat- resistant base 2. The layer 3 comprises at least two coloring agents having the same hue but differing in transfer starting temperature. Since the medium comprises the plural coloring agents having different transfer starting temperatures (t1, t2 and t3), the quantities of the coloring agents transferred can be easily controlled by regulating the applied temperature in the range of t1-t6. Namely, the temperature applied to the medium is varied according to the color density of the record image to be obtained, whereby a desired color density can be obtained. |
