PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To erase unneeded recorded video images while continuing recording for the residual amount insufficiency of a recording medium. SOLUTION: When the residual amount of a hard disk becomes small (S1) and an automatic erasure candidate is not registered (S2), a user is made to input an erasure candidate (S3-S12). Recording is started (S14, S15), and when the residual amount of the hard disk becomes small (S16), the video images of the registered erasure candidate are erased from the hard disk (S17).
