<p>The method involves providing a transfer foil web formed of an airtight plastic foil as a carrier layer, which carries a transfer layer. The transfer layer is partially transferred from the transfer foil web to a printing substrate before the transfer foil web is received on a wind-up reel. The transfer foil web is charged positively or negatively for transferring the foil web sections situated on top of each other on the wind-up reel to adhere to each other by the electrostatic forces.
