An anti-shake apparatus is provided to control movement of a movable unit when hand-shake quantity is too large to move the movable unit so as to correspond to the amount of hand-shake and the movable unit can not move in a mode necessary to perform anti-shake operations accurately. An anti-shake apparatus of an image pickup device comprises a movable unit(30a) and a controller(21). The controller controls the movement of the movable unit for anti-shake operation. When the movable unit is contacted with an end of a movement range of the movable unit under a predetermined condition, movement control is in an off state. The predetermined condition is one of cases that the movable unit is contacted with both ends of the movement range of a first direction as one of the movement directions of the movable unit, or contacted with both ends of a movement range of a second direction as another of the movement directions of the movable unit.
