<p>A crystal of thiazolidinedione derivative having excellent preventive and therapeutic potency with respect to diseases attributed to insulin resistance; and a process for producing the same in high purity. There is provided a process for producing compounds of the general formula (A) or salts thereof according to the reaction scheme: wherein 4-[(2,4-dioxothiazolidin-5-yl)methyl]phenoxyacetic acid is first converted to compound of the general formula (I) [X = halogen atom], subsequently reacted with compound of the general formula (II) [each of R1, R2, R3 and R4 = hydrogen atom, hydroxyl, C1-C6 alkyl, C1-C6 alkoxy, benzyloxy, acetoxy, trifluoromethyl or halogen atom; R5 = C1-C6 alkyl, and R6 = protective group for amino] to thereby obtain compound of the general formula (III) and thereafter cyclized into a final product. Further, there are provided crystals of compounds of the general formula (A) or salts thereof.</p> |
