PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel piperidine derivative that enhances bleaching (decoloring) effects in a bleaching (decoloring) agent comprising hydrogen peroxide as an oxidant such as a detergent for clothes, a mold-removing agent or a pulp-bleaching agent, and its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: The piperidine derivative is represented by general formula (1) (wherein R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>3</SP>and R<SP>4</SP>are each H, or a 1-12C alkyl group or a cyclic hydrocarbon group, or R<SP>3</SP>and R<SP>4</SP>jointly form a cyclic structure together with the adjacent nitrogen atom; two R<SP>2</SP>'s may be the same or different and are each a 1-12C alkyl group or a cyclic hydrocarbon group, or two R<SP>2</SP>'s jointly form a cyclic structure together with the adjacent quaternary carbon atom; and R<SP>5</SP>is H, a hydroxy group, or a 1-12C alkyl group or a cyclic hydrocarbon group).
