Described is the use of a self-vector comprising a polynucleotide encoding one or more self-protein(s), -polypeptide(s) or -peptide(s) in the manufacture of a medicament for the treatment of a disease associated with one or more self-protein(s), -polypeptide(s) or -peptide(s), wherein the disease is insulin dependent diabetes mellitus and wherein the vector comprises an immune modulatory sequence (IMS).
