PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a passenger conveyor device having a driving mechanism structured compactly, generating less vibration and noise, and capable of driving a step chain having a long traveling distance. SOLUTION: The passenger conveyor device is equipped with a plurality of steps 3, the step chain of endless form traveling in circulation while the steps 3 are coupled together, and a middle part driving device 10 installed on the inside of the step chain 5 and engaged with at least one of the forward path step chain and the return path step chain so as to transmit the driving force. The middle part driving device 10 is equipped with a toothed circulating link arrangement 11 configured in a ring form from a plurality of links which have teeth to mesh with the step chain 5 and are fitted with a secondary side linear motor 13 and which are coupled with one another rotatably with the teeth arranged on the outside, a rail 12 for circulation to guide the circulating link arrangement 11 along a circulation path meshing with the step chain 5, and a primary side linear motor 11c installed on the inside of the link arrangement 11 in such a manner as confronting the secondary side linear motor 13.
