A disk device where movement quality in a tray ejection is improved to allow a user comfortable use of the device. The disk device has a device body (11) and a tray (12) provided movable relative to the device body (11). Side walls (121, 122) on both sides of the tray (12) each have an innermost section (127) with a sidewall height of H1, an inclination section (125) reduced in height from the innermost section (127) toward the forward end side, and an intermediate section (126) connected to the inclination section (125) and having a sidewall height of H2 that is smaller than the sidewall height H1. The height H4 of the surface of a cartridge (15) when it is placed on the tray (12) is smaller than the sidewall height H1 and greater than the sidewall height H2. The device body (11) has rollers (18, 19) for pressing the tray or the cartridge (15), and which one of the two is to be pressed is selected depending on the position of movement of the tray (12) where the cartridge (15) is placed.
