PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify the constitution of a circuit without lowering decoding accuracy. SOLUTION: In a signal processing circuit of the present invention, when performing the decoding processing of a signal which is to be obtained by reproducing an information recording medium by using a PRML method in which a plurality of predicted values are used, coefficients (y0, y+, y-) proportional to the predicted values are multiplied by differences among constants (y0/2, y+/2, y-/2) proportional to the predicted values and digital values of the signal for every predicted values (y0, y+, y-), and branch metrics (Λ0,Λ+,Λ-) are calculated based on the calculated results and a pass metric is generated based on the branch metrics corresponding respectively to the plurality of predicted values and an optimum pass is selected based on the generated pass metric and the history information of the pass metric and decoded signal is generated based on the selected pass.
