A variator has driving and driven conical cylinders with working surfaces installed on the driving and the driven shafts, respectively, and roller with working section installed between the working surfaces of the conical drums on the intermediate shaft with possibility of displacement along its axis and kinematical interaction with the working surfaces of the conical drums. At that the working surfaces of the conical drums are made toothed, and the working section of the roller is made of springy material, mostly of oil-resistant rubber.
