Substrate (1) coated on at least one side with a layer (2) of contact adhesive comprises an adhesion-reducing coating (3) over the adhesive layer, the coating material being volatile when heated to a temperature that does not irreversibly alter the substrate or adhesive layer. An Independent claim is also included for temporarily reducing the adhesive power of a layer of contact adhesive by applying a coating as above.
