The method involves removing damaged parts from a metallic blade (10) and replacing the damaged parts by replacement parts (20`, 22`). The replacement parts are welded in place of the removed parts of the blade using welding seams (28, 30). The welding seams of the blade are burnished with a tool having a movable ball unit which applies pressure on the seams.
