PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cathode ray tube device in which the display-plane size is safely and efficiently adjustable. SOLUTION: The color cathode ray tube device is equipped with a color cathode ray tube internally equipped with electron guns, and a deflection york equipped with deflection coils to deflect the electron beams emitted from the electron guns. The deflection york is equipped with a horizontal deflection coil 32 and a variable inductance means 40 which can varies the inductance value to adjust the current flowing through the horizontal deflection coil 32. The variable inductance means 40 is equipped with, for example, three coils 44, 46 and 48, which are optionally so connected through connecting terminals A, B, C, D and E that the coils 44, 46 and 48 are connected in series and/or parallel, thereby varying the inductance value.
